I know how hard it is to talk about the parts of becoming a parent that have been disappointing, scary and heartbreaking. For many of my clients, therapy is the first place they’re encouraged to be open and honest about the losses and emotional struggles parenthood.
Whether you’re having difficulty adjusting to a whole new identity of parent/mom, feeling disconnected from your partner due to a difficult transition to the world of parenthood, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of parenting, therapy is highly effective in the treatment of PMADs (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders) and related difficulties. A full recovery is possible.
I help couples, moms and dads walk through the messiness and hardships of life to foster hope, insight, and lasting changes that heal. I am passionate about empowering couples, parents and moms and I believe one of the most powerful forms of healing is being heard. I can guarantee you that I am committed to providing you a safe, secure, and judgment free space to learn and grow.
Helping couples, parents, and moms navigate life transitions through pregnancy and parenthood is my specialty and my passion.
Pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting bring significant change, stress, and worry to life even when all goes to plan. And yeah, while it can be a beautiful and exciting time, the changes you experience individually and as a family, can also bring feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear, guilt, failure, uncertainty, and darkness.
Whether you need help with parenting or a different life situation/transition, together we will work to understand the roots of your history and embrace your natural resilience and strength throughout this new chapter of your life.
Being a mom is hard! As a wife and a mother of two, I understand firsthand how crucial it is to have emotional support during pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood.
My personal experiences and professional training have led me to my work helping couples, parents and moms.
I am well aware that it takes a great deal of courage to admit that one is in need of help in order to manage any symptoms of mental and/or emotional distress and sometimes it feels easier to blame our emotions and distress on external factors.
This is why I work very hard to create an empathic and respectful environment for healing and growth. And more importantly, to normalize the idea that getting and accepting help is crucial and necessary.
Therapy for moms can make a difference in your life. Maternal mental health is real and important. Together, we will craft new thought patterns to cope with emotions, valuable skills, and new ways to increase your support.
Whether you’re embarking on this journey due to issues around parenting; finances; infidelity; differences in life goals; extended family; household management and task distribution; or communication issues, I can help you straighten it out: together.
During pregnancy and postpartum, women face so many changes. Adjusting to life with a new baby can cause unexpected challenges, and problems with depression and anxiety.
My first priority is to make sure you feel heard, understood and validated. I will listen without judgment, I will be careful with your trust, and I will create a safe space in my office where you can be vulnerable and open. I don’t have a planned agenda or a check-list with how each session has to go, I meet each client, or couple where they are at.
My goal is to work collaboratively with you and develop a personalized integrative approach to therapy that is focused on realistic solutions, highlights your strengths, and is conducive to your overall quality of life. I embrace the idea that everyone has a different personality, different concerns, relational problems and history of life experiences.
