Common Questions
Once you have made a decision to see a therapist, you still might be apprehensive about the process. Many people feel nervous before their first appointment. Therapy is a shared journey; a shared process. And, although you and I will travel together, it is ultimately your journey and you will make your own decisions. I do not have answers to all your concerns, but I do have the ability to listen carefully and will ask thoughtful questions. Your answers to these questions will help shape the direction of our work
Sessions are 60 minutes long for individual therapy and 60-75 minutes for couples.
Great question! In order to go through insurance, I must diagnose you with a mental health disorder. I don’t believe that everyone who wants or who can benefit from counseling reaches the level of needing a diagnosis. Also, having a diagnosis can (unfortunately) be an issue later with new insurance applications or some jobs. Finally, insurance companies may dictate the frequency of counseling. I believe YOU should be in control of those decisions.
What I can do, if you’d still like to see about off-setting any costs, is provide you with a superbill. A superbill means you still pay the fee for the session, but may be able to get partial reimbursement from your insurance company for your sessions.
I encourage my clients to start by doing the first 4-6 sessions weekly so that we can get momentum and set you up for success in reaching your goals more quickly than not. After that, we can talk about what frequency feels comfortable for you. You can continue meeting weekly or biweekly or change to something else. The decision will be influenced by your goals, how things are going outside of sessions, and other factors like your schedule and financials. The frequency of sessions can be revisited as often as you need.
If you live anywhere in Florida, I can sure provide you with online therapy services. My professional licenses allows me to work with any Florida resident. And thanks to the ability to use virtual therapy for sessions, I can offer my services remotely.

You may be wondering, “Is this normal grief? Is this just typical, low grade anxiety? Does this even count as depression?” The truth is that if you are looking at this page, you already know that it might be time to speak to a therapist. However, it’s very common for people to question their decision. I know this is a difficult decision. But, I also believe you deserve to feel better than you do right now. If your anxiety/depression/overwhelm/grief is starting to impact your relationships, parenting, work or other areas of your life, it is probably time to seek some extra support.
Each person has different needs so this answer varies for every individual. Length of the counseling relationship is something we will absolutely talk about during the first few sessions, as I assess what challenges you’re experiencing.
At the comfort of your own home or office. I provide telehealth services, which means, all you need is your computer or smartphone with good internet connection and audio/microphone.
All of our interactions are confidential, unless you are planning to harm yourself or someone else, or report the abuse of a minor or elder. Confidentiality is outlined in my informed consent agreement and we will go over this information during our first session.

My first priority is to make sure you feel heard, understood and validated. I will listen without judgment, I will be careful with your trust, and I will create a safe space where you can be vulnerable and open. I don’t have a planned agenda or a check-list with how each session has to go, I meet each client, or couple where they are at.
My goal is to work collaboratively with you and develop a personalized integrative approach to therapy that is focused on realistic solutions, highlights your strengths, and is conducive to your overall quality of life. I embrace the idea that everyone has a different personality, different concerns, relational problems and history of life experiences.
